For more than ten years The Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Sciences and Technology (Eawag www.sodis.ch) has had a mission to provide people in developing countries with access to clean drinking water. Through their work, they are trying to improve the supply of drinking water and reduce infant mortality, and thereby make a direct contribution to the millennium development goals of the United Nations.

Eawag supports the improvement and spread of the SODIS method through research in microbiology, health, educational strategies and PET bottles. However, the field work in individual SODIS projects is not part of Eawag's core business. The Water School is pleased to partner with Eawag to implement their important research in areas of the world that desperately need clean water.
